You guys keep listing quotes from Canada as being from Canadia……..funny, but seriously, Americans aren’t that dumb, are they?

Subject: [Overheard in the Office] Recommendation: Anyway, Long Story Short: I Spill Caulk on Myself at Least Once a Day Now, Though Usually at Night

Hi!
First, I love your sites – they’re, by far, the high point of my day at work!

Secondly, as a resident of Canadia, I have to wonder if there is some kind of language barrier between the US and your neighbour up north.  I think that maybe you pronounce “caulk” differently in the US?  This is the second overheard I’ve seen involving “caulk” with a not-very-funny title that seems to entirely miss the point about why this is so funny.  (I seem to recall the last one being from Saskatchewan as well…?)  Perhaps you-all (isn’t that what you people say down there?) pronounce it “callk”, which wouldn’t have the same feel as how we pronounce  it, namely, “cahk”, and might justify the weird title, below.

Thirdly (and lastly) – excellent work, as always, on the rest of your wonderful and witty captions (well, the ones that aren’t caulked-up) (ha ha) – keep ’em coming!  Give us more!

I have spent a good portion of my day reading your hilarious site… but I have a question. Why is Canada spelt as ” Canadia” ?? Every Canada quote has been misspelt as “Canadia”
Are you guys doing that on purpose or are y’all really that dumb?

I have noticed that Canada is spelled “Canadia” at the bottom of most quotes from Canada. Is this intentional, sent by the person submitting, or due to some other unknown reason. If possible, could it be changed to the proper spelling from now on. I enjoy the site, and read it daily.

Subject: A technicality?

Hi guys,
First of all, love the sites, love the headlines especially. They often make the quotes ten-fold funnier than they would be as stand-alones.
Now, a quick question: I keep noticing that Canada is credited as “Canadia” often… especially in the Overheard in the Office site, for some reason.
Just wondering whether that’s some sort of tongue-in-cheek-misspelling-on-purpose or an actual persistent typo? I keep imagining some hapless individual stumbling on the site and from them on being forever under the impression that America’s northern neighbour is indeed Canadia.
Cheers to all and keep up the daily laughs,

Hi,
Can you please stop spelling Canada, Canadia?
There is no ‘i’ in the word.
Maybe you guys are thinking Canadian?
Please stop spelling it like that, bugs me, a lot.

Subject: CANADIA? A NEW COUNTRY?

Hi,
Just a typo concern regarding “OVERHEARD IN THE OFFICE” quotes from Canada that seems to be repeating – perhaps someone is under a misconception about us blokes north of the border EH?
It’s spelled CANADA, not CANADIA
People who are from Canada are CANADIANS.
I Guess CANADIA is a new country? hehehe.
Have fun, you’re doing a great job.

Why is it that the word “Canada” is always, without fail, spelled “Canadia” when Canucks submit material to your site?
I’m pretty sure that we know how to spell the name of our own country, so… how is this happening?
Otherwise, greatly enjoy your site!

As a Canadian, I have to admit to some dismay at finding that the name of my country is systematically misspelled in your web site.
Could I ask you, please, to do a global search and replace? “Canadia” is incorrect; “Canada” is the correct spelling.
Thank you very much for your patience.

Sorry to bother you about something you might find trivial…but it really isn’t. Is there any reason why all entries from CANADA are spelled CANADIA?
I just came across this sight last month and am having a laugh.
Thanks.

On your website www.overheardintheoffice.com, the title ‘ Totally Awesome Quotes’ currently reads ‘ Totally Alsome Quotes’ . How many times a day do you look at your own website? just pointing out a pet peeve of mine about so called perfect people. I think the government is the worst offender, then all advertising for every item and store out there. Nobody proof reads their items for typographical errors, and if they do, they don’t see them because they wrote it. Give it to the mailman and see if he can approve it before you print, at least you would have tried to correct it before it goes to hard copy. WHAT??!!?? Do I have to do EVERYTHING???

Hi there,
I notice that everytime someone has a submission from somewhere in Canada it ends up showing up as “Canadia.”  Is there anything that can be done about this?

Hi,
You know that big country to the north of you, the one with all the Canadians?  It’s known to those of us who live here as “Canada”, not “Canadia”, as someone in your editorial department has on their auto-type – delicious irony, don’t you think?

Date:Feb 19, 2007 12:05 PM

Hi,
I’m not sure if this is an editorial question, and it’s not really so much a question as just one word I’ve seen you have several times on your site. I was really just wondering.
Canadia?

Hi Overheard, I love the site and the quirky things you New Yorkers come up with.
But I just wanted to point out a small but persistent spelling mistake. You often misspell ‘Canadia’ and ‘Australia’. They’re actually ‘Canada’ and ‘Australa’.
Cheers

Subject: Canadia???

Hello,
I noticed that most of the Canadian quotes on your site list the country as “Canadia” (eg. see 11 AM – Would You Like Some Candy? at http://www.overheardintheoffice.com/archives/004111.html). The country is actually spelled Canada. I just thought I would pass this on.

i don’t hate you – i think you’re pretty cool…very cool, in fact. why do you keep calling us Canadia…? We measure in inches instead of centimetres, we say Zee instead of Zed, we shop at American Outfitters instead of Roots…how much more will you take from us?
is it because you only ever heard it in those beer commercials…cuz he’s saying I AM canadiaN! the N is important…it changes the word.
maybe we should have stuck to “Kanata”.
but i guess i can understand; i can never remember what province New York is in, myself.
